Burns Barrier Free ProjectPastor Jeremy answers:“How was Myrtle United chosen?” Some hot and humid Sundays have led a few of us to ask, “How was Myrtle United Church chosen for our worship?” Let me tell you the story. In late May, we quickly needed to find a place for worship. The session is responsible for the times and format of worship, so elders formed a team, inviting a board rep to take part. Time was an issue; discussions were informal. We settled four priorities.
The list of sites that fit wasn’t long. Area golf clubs didn’t meet priority #4. Brooklin schools didn’t meet priorities #1-3. We had some concerns with Myrtle UC. But, a lack of air conditioning could be tolerated for a few Sundays. We do that in our usual worship space. Those who wouldn’t be able to attend because of the stairs could be visited more often. Your Session has been in contact with these, ensuring their spiritual needs are still being met. We’re grateful to Myrtle U.C. for hosting us. But, if you have suggestions on another site that might be better, please let an elder know. Keep the questions coming – clear communication makes for good relationships. And good relationships show others what God’s love looks like in everyday life. With you in Christ’s service, Jeremy |
